Obituary of Edward Casoria Jr.

Edward Casoria, Jr., 1951 - 2024, passed peacefully at home on Saturday April 27th. Ed grew up in Fort Lauderdale, a proud FLHS “Flying L.” An avid Seminoles fan, he graduated from Florida State University in 1973 and from University of Florida College of Law in 1976. Ed was a sole practitioner in Winter Park for most of his law career in the guardianship and probate field. He received numerous awards from charities, including as a Board  member of United Cerebral Palsy, as President of Orange County Seniors First/Meals on Wheels, as Chair of both the Seniors Resource Alliance and of the Seniors First Foundation.

Ed represented scores of indigent clients through the years and was instrumental in establishing the guardianship training program for Orange and Seminole Counties. He retired from law in 2020 to enjoy the beach he loved.  

Edward was also known as Santa Clausoria, Unc the Hunk, Fast Eddie, Ed, and Eddie. He and his wife, Janis, traveled extensively in the U. S. and overseas. He loved boating, camping, reading, and most every sport.

Ed is survived by his wife, Janis (Smithmyer) Casoria,  sister Carol Weatherford and her husband Joe, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gary and Elaine Smithmyer, and Bill and Elaine Henninger, as well as three generations of nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Edward Sr. and Dorothy (Schoeps) Casoria, and his sister Mary.

His was a life well-lived and he was well-loved.
