Obituary of William Tulloch Jr.

William Tulloch, Jr., 83, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on February 3, 2024 after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Bill was born May 24, 1940, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the eldest son of William Tulloch, Sr. and the former Hilda Mae Longbottom. As a child, his family spent time in Ohio and Oklahoma, before he graduated from Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio in 1958. Bill entered the Air Force after high school, being honorably discharged in 1963. 

Bill married the former Mary Margaret Fenton in Holyoke, Massachusetts on August 18, 1962, welcoming two children. The couple settled in Chicopee, MA, where Mary was a well-loved elementary school teacher, and were married for nearly 35 years until Mary’s death in 1997.

Although best known as a bartender at the old Bridge Café in Chicopee, Massachusetts, Bill held a variety of full-time positions at the Holyoke News Company and Big Y Supermarkets, from which he retired in 2007, moving to Micco, Florida. An avid golfer and bowler, Bill was in several Western Massachusetts leagues, and was a member of both the Chicopee Elks Lodge and Chicopee St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Also preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Paul, Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gerard (Jerry) and Mary-Eileen (Mim) Zayas of Holyoke, MA, son William F. Tulloch of Washington, DC, brother Mark Tulloch of Kettering, Ohio, grandsons Nathan Zayas of Holyoke and Zachary Zayas of Somerville, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be conducted in Holyoke on May 25, 2024, at Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, with Calling Hours starting at 1:00PM and a Memorial Service to follow, at 2:00PM.
