Obituary of Tom Slovak

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas George Slovak.

Tom was born on July 14, 1932 to Antoinette and Jerry Slovak and raised on the family farm in Korona, FL. He passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Tom met the love of his life, Bonnie in 1958. They met at the Catholic youth group in Miami, Fl and he knew Bonnie was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. They were married for 62 years. They raised five amazing children building a wonderful life in Miami.

Tom was proud to have served in the Army and spoke often of getting to see snow for the first time when he woke up in his Army tent in Germany.

Tom always looked forward to vacations in the Florida Keys where he enjoyed fishing, diving and many family fish fry dinners under the chickee huts.

Tom retired to Melbourne Beach where he spent his golden years loving life at their dream home on the water. Tom enjoyed watching the wildlife and boats go by on the canal, surf fishing and teaching his great-grandchilden how to throw a cast net.

Retirement afforded them time to travel across the country in their motor home with family and friends. Their travels ranged from the Grand Canyon and many national parks to Nova Scotia and many other adventures along the way.

Tom was truly an extraordinary father, friend and husband; one of life's true gentlemen. Anyone who knew Tom was blessed to have had him in their lives. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. His legacy of love, family bonds, honor, and how to make the most out of life here on earth will long be remembered.
