Obituary of Mary Joanne Nagel

Merritt Island – Mary Joanne (Martin) Nagel, 91, passed away into God’s loving arms on October 8, 2023. She was born in Lansing, MI, to the late Wayne and Florence (Adeline) Martin.

Joanne is survived by her seven children and their six spouses, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews from her late brothers: Wayne and Dale Martin and her late sisters: Lela Kletke, Alice Charland, and Betty Freeman (Larkin).

Joanne’s husband and the love of her life for sixty-seven years, Robert Franklin Nagel, (Ret. Col. USAF/OSI), passed away in November 2018.

Joanne was the perfect military wife and the glue that constantly held the family together while moving and traveling all over the world and to the military destinations they were assigned. She lived for her family and was known for her cooking and sending out her famous goodie boxes to all seven kids at Christmas time. She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly and forever missed. Joanne had no doubt that Jesus Christ our Lord was her Savior. She lived a very Christian life and was a faithful servant her entire life.  Through her life, we have learned that true wealth is not found in a bank, but from the love of family!

Joanne and Robert will be interred together on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military funeral honors, due to her husband’s life-long service in the Air Force.
