Obituary of Maurice Cherven

Maurice Cherven, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, went home to Jesus on October 3, 2023, at her home in Melbourne, Florida.  After leaving her home in Altoona, Florida, Maurice traveled the United States and the world, from Florida to California to New England, and as far as Mexico and Japan.  She settled down in Satellite Beach, Florida with her adoring husband of 42 years, James Cherven, who affectionately called her “Sugar.”  Sugar, also known as “Grandma Sugar,” loved her family deeply.  She enjoyed making life fun with practical jokes and humor, loved the beach and outdoors, fishing, reading, and creatively cooking.  Maurice played the piano for her church, and enjoyed reading novels and studying the Bible.  Her many cats over the years brought a special joy to her heart.

Maurice was preceded in death by her husband James E. Cherven;  her son, Alan Robie; and her grandson, James Cherven.  She is survived by her children; Ron Cherven (Suga), Karen Cherven Soule, Sharon Manning (Terry), Kerry L. Price (Gloria), Darren R. Price, Misa L. Rainbolt (Greg), Cecily Arguna (Arnie),  and Michelle Reynolds (Ray); her brother, Gary Harbison (Renita); fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and her three cats, Annie, Baby, and Sydni.

Her Celebration of Life service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 12:30 PM followed by a gathering of family and friends at The Eagles Nest Condominium Community Center, 1225 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Humane Society of South Brevard, https://southbrevardhumane.org.
