Obituary of Marie Ann Brown

Our dear mother, Marie Ann Brown, a Brooklyn native and longtime Broward County resident passed away on March 12, 2022. Marie had a zest for life with many friends and a large extended family. Marie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend.

She was born to John and Ethel Calabrese on January 11, 1940. Marie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Brown, and they resided in Brooklyn together. They welcomed two daughters, Lori and Lynn there. A move to Oceanside brought the arrival of Trish and Bobby. The desire to get out of the Northern winters brought the family to Florida in 1972.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Eileen Martinez. She is survived by her four children: Lori Mitchell and her husband Steve of Margate, FL., Lynn Brown of Merritt Island, FL., Patricia Stamand and her husband Mark of Cape Canaveral, FL., and Rob Brown and his wife Kelly of Milton, GA. Marie was blessed with four grandsons: Spencer Stamand of Casselberry, FL., Trevor Stamand of Tampa, FL., Ben Mitchell of Margate, FL., and Tristan Brown of Milton, GA. Her three granddaughters Lauren, Jenna, and Brinley all reside in Milton, GA. Her great-grandchildren brought her much joy; Liam, Harper, and Scarlett of Casselberry, FL. Furthermore, she is survived by a brother, John Calabrese and his wife Kim of Doylestown, PA, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marie retired from the Broward County Schools Hearing Impaired Department. She was always up for hosting holidays and gatherings. During her retirement she loved admiring the view of the lake behind her home. She took pride serving on the social events committee in her community. Marie was a great cook and enjoyed preparing Italian dishes. Spending time with her friends poolside was a favorite pastime. Marie will be dearly missed!
