Obituary of Wilhelmina Lee Noel Wilson

WILHELMINA LEE WILSON, 91, passed away January 17, 2022 surrounded by her family. Wilhelmina was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She preferred to be called Lee and was called Mena by her close family and friends.

She was born in Capitol Heights, Maryland in 1930 to parents William and Alice Noel. In her senior year at Maryland Park High School, she was the class president. Her first job was with the F.B.I. at age 16. She married Jack H. Wilson in September 1947, at the age of 17. Together they had 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lee taught Sunday school in Maryland at the Woodlawn Community Pilgrim church. The family relocated to Florida in 1963, where Lee worked in radiation therapy at Holmes Regional Medical Center for ten years. She was passionate about her Christian faith and became a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepard located in Melbourne, Florida for many years. She started college at the age of 45 and graduated with honors from Brevard Community College in 1983. Lee loved being a member of the Brevard County Homemakers for over 25 years and made many good friends wherever she went including The Red Hat Society.

She was an incredible seamstress and made clothes and Halloween costumes for her kids and grandkids. She took her grandchildren out for lunch and shopping on their birthdays and always made every family member a special birthday cake. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating the best dinners, cakes, cookies and pies for her family and friends. Her homemade goodies included her famous chicken and dumplings, German gingerbread, and carrot cake. Everyone who knew her saw that she was an extremely kind, loving, and gentle person.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, nephew John and brother Billy. She is survived by her children Steve, Linda, Brenda, Valerie (Tommy) and Karen (Darryl), Grandchildren Barbi, Stephenie, Brian, Jodie, Amber, Wesley, Rebecca, Benjamin and Sarah; Great-grandchildren Claudia, Dana, Maya, Cora, Teo, Caitlyn, Liam, Trina, Tucker, Brayden, Grayson, and Griffin; sisters Alice and Jane, sister-in-law Mary and several nieces and a nephew.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepard in Melbourne followed by a lunch reception.
