Obituary of Laura J. Beers

After a determined fight with an aggressive cancer, Laura J. Beers, (nee' Krasney) of Melbourne returned to her spiritual home on December 21, 2021 at the age of 56. She is survived by husband, John, their fur-child Bryce and MANY FRIENDS.

Laura was born in Wisconsin to Karl and Shirley Krasney. At the age of 3 she and her family moved to Melbourne, Florida where she discovered a love for dance and theater. Her first dance lessons were at Erika's School of Dance. From there she went on to become an active participant, teacher, and leader in the Florida State University Ballroom Dance Club while earning her Bachelor's Degree. Dance remained an important part of her life after college. In New York while working in the jewelry industry and earning her recognition as a Graduate Gemologist, Laura taught dance. She loved teaching and sharing. She taught the joy of dancing to many people including John.

Laura and John married in New York and settled back in Melbourne in 1996.

With Laura’s passion for dance and Melbourne not having much of a dance community Laura started hosting small monthly dances with John playing the music. She teamed up with Floorplay dance club where she hosted and Emceed the Melbourne Floorplay Club for 16 years. Laura always emphasized the importance of dancing with beginners.

Laura was a confident communicator, whether it was teaching classes at the Henegar Center for the Arts, the Cape Canaveral Recreation Center or the opening classes for the Swing Time Band Dances. She was comfortable getting in front of people and speaking. Laura was part of Area 30 ToastMasters club in the mid 90’s.La

Laura Beers was a Motivational Speaker, National Evidential Psychic Medium, Certified Spiritual Coach, Author and Ordained Minister. Laura believed in God and also the free will of one’s spirit. She never discriminated against individuals by their color of skin, nationality, sex or sexual orientation. She was very egalitarian and unbiased. Laura became an Ordained Minister and worked for a company doing beach weddings.

She soon began to develop her own intuition and metaphysical abilities while also helping others to see and realize their own potential. She had a calling. She was The Motivational Medium™ and author of the book Empowered Spirituality Unboxed. The title of Laura’s book was inspired by her extensive box collection. The number of boxes has never been completely counted but she was in the hundreds of unique and eclectic boxes. Everything from unique puzzle boxes to gilded glass cases. Cats, hearts and butterflies were the main themes of her collection. The qualities that would catch her eye would be the unique use of materials used and the artistic craftsmanship that went into the piece. She would find something almost everywhere she went. From second hand shops to fancy boutiques and every Renaissance festival and craft fair in between.

Laura would always find a unique aspect in a person whether it was their hair, a piece of jewelry or even something they were doing and she would engage and strike up a conversation with genuine interest and sincerity. It was such a child-like curiosity that helped Laura touch so many lives literally everywhere she went. Her wonderful, natural, kind, friendly smile would captivate people, make them feel at ease and become fast friends. Laura was a fun loving spirit who appreciated the Arts, a consistent season ticket holder starting with the Melbourne Civic Theater, then the Henegar Center and the King Center. She also loved going to the movies. In addition to the Arts, Laura demonstrated appreciation for the environment and was a kindred soul to all things growing. Her love for flowers and plants inspired her to run for President of the Island Garden Club. There she presided over the club for 3 terms and remained an active member for several years. Laura was especially drawn to butterflies and the metamorphosis they would go through to emerge as the beautiful creatures that they are.

Laura was also committed to helping students grow and to develop thinking skills. She volunteered in the following organizations over the years: Tutor U, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brevard, Brevard Public Schools (mentor),and Brevard Association for the Advancement of the Blind. She also cared deeply for animals and volunteered at the Brevard County Sheriff Animal Shelter.
