Obituary of James Hugh Richardson

James (Jim) Hugh Richardson, 74, of Palm Bay, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Melbourne Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on April 20, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Thomas T. and Dorothy (Keill) Richardson. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra Richardson, with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Steve) Sigety, and sons, Andrew (Brooke) Richardson and Jonathan (Jennifer) Richardson; and brother Tom (Trudy); and eight beautiful grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

After graduating from Tarpon Springs High School in 1965, Jim went on to graduate from FSU with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He taught Biology for several years at DeLaura Jr. High School and then on to a Health Educator for the Brevard County Health Department. He spent several years as the owner of Ark Window Cleaning and then back to Health Education where he retired in 2011 after 25 years of service.

Jim had many talents and interests. Including: hiking the Appalachian Trail, camping, kayaking, painting, stained glass, photography, and last but not least, sand sculpting. He honed his skills as a Master Sculptor competing in many sand sculpting contests and creating masterpieces all over the world. He even worked for Walt Disney World creating castles and characters for videos and celebrations. He spent most of his time outdoors and with his family. He was always up for the challenge of another “Griswald family” vacation that Sandy arranged. Jim could “MacGuyver” just about anything with some duct tape and rope. He had a heart for the mountains and a love of the beach and instilled that in each of his children.

Jim was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He took great comfort in his faith and was very active at CenterPointe Church in Palm Bay.
