Obituary of Janice B. Sapp

Janice (Jan) B. Sapp, age 74, passed away on August 8, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1947 to Peyton and Maude Strickland in Gordansville, VA. At a very early age, after losing both of her parents, she went to live with her Aunt and Uncle and their 3 sons, who quickly became her brothers.

Jan was a career Federal employee where she worked for GAO, GSA and then FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). After her retirement in 1997 she continued to work as a Reservist for FEMA on disasters.

Jan was a master cook and was most at home in the kitchen. She loved cooking extravagant recipes and she especially loved cooking for others. She loved all animals and the delight of her heart was her Pomeranians. She was passionate about painting and loved taking Art Classes from her dearest friend, Tricia Eisen. She was known for her ability to take on any craft or art and quickly master it well.

Jan is survived by her husband, John. They were married for 42 years. They lived in Northern Virginia, until their retirement when they relocated to Indialantic, FL. She loved living near the ocean and enjoyed quiet walks on the beach.

Jan is also survived by her daughter, Nicole, step-daughters Natalie and Vicki and their families. She is also survived by her cousins by blood, brothers by heart, Kevin, Mike and Bob Harrison.
