Georgia (Joy) Hardee, 89, Cocoa, FL passed away on June 30, 2021. Joy was born in Kingsport, TN and was the daughter of the late Myrtle Blankenbecker East and James Connard East.

Joy was a retiree of Southern Bell Tel Co. She was married to Lenwood Hardee of Cocoa, FL. They were married at First Baptist Church in 1959. She will be dearly missed by all.

She was predeceased by six sisters Theda Jo Bishop (Kingsport TN), Juanita Jean Redwine (Nickelsville, VA), Evelyn Jennette King (Kokomo, IN), Darlene Chambers (Elizabethton, TN), Gale East (Elizabethton, TN), Francis McConnell (Gate City, VA), and two brothers John Wesley East and James Dennis East (Kokomo, IN). Two brothers in law Winston Hardee and Sidney Singleton.

She is survived by her husband Lenwood Hardee (Cocoa, FL), daughter Pamela Mathiesen (Dale) of Cocoa, FL; two granddaughters, Jennifer North (Matt) and Julianna Mathiesen. Her one surviving sister Barbara Hargrove (Kokomo, IN). She enjoyed her time at her summer home in Kingsport, TN and making memories with her family. She spent many years after retirement crafting and traveling to various craft shows around the US. She cooked often for her family and made delicious southern food. She spent 62 blissful years of marriage alongside her husband Lenwood, whom she loved with all her heart. She was the best mom and nanny that anyone could’ve ever asked for and always made sure that her daughter, son in law and granddaughters felt like they were the most important people in the world. She truly lived by her named “Joy” and brought joy to all that had the pleasure of meeting her. Services will be held Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims on 7/6/2021 at 2pm.
