Obituary of Thomas Howard

On Monday, May 17, 2021, Thomas Howard, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 74. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage and he faced these challenges with a smile. Despite the physical pain and suffering, Tom came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end.  He was a good, caring man, who enjoyed life and would do anything for anyone.

Tom was born on August 3, 1946 in Queens, New York.  He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 in 1963.  Tom was on the USS Springfield CLG 7, stationed in the Mediterranean for two years.  He continued to serve in the Reserves until 1969. On June 20, 1970, he married his loving wife Karen Little, who was one of 10 children.  They raised a son, Scott and a daughter Kim.

Tom had a huge passion for corvettes and vintage cars.  He was a member of many car clubs over the years in New York and Florida.  Many nights you would find him tinkering around in the garage on one of his cars. Tom was a lifelong NY Giants fan and an avid golfer.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen, of almost 51 years, and his children, Scott and Kim (Chris). Tom will also be fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Lindsay and Addison, and by his sister Patricia. He was loved tremendously and will be greatly missed by his many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date in upstate New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society.  A special thank you to the staff at William Childs Hospice for their extraordinary care and support during these difficult times.
