Patricia Ross Altzner

Obituary of Patricia Jean Ross Altzner

Patricia Jean Ross Altzner, widow of James Altzner, peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2021 surrounded by her family in Melbourne, Florida.

Born on April 20, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia (Pat) was the daughter of the late Jean Bartos and Allan Ross. She met the love of her life, Jim Altzner, at John Marshall High School when she was 15 years old. She graduated from Westlake High School, Westlake, OH, in 1950. Pat and Jim were married on October 20, 1951 while Jim was serving in the US Navy.

Pat was a secretary while Jim served during the Korean Conflict. Later in life, she enjoyed working as a property manager and realtor in Brecksville, Ohio, a role that allowed her to engage with a number of different people every day.

She is most remembered for her love to tell stories of her childhood in Cleveland; family history; and how she built her family life. She was the hostess of many family holidays where she could exhibit her passion for decorating and cooking, while enjoying the company of friends and family. Pat’s sons remember that she was always the mother that was welcoming to their friends, whether it was during their teenage years or as adults. No one was a stranger to her, just friends she has yet to meet.

Her unconditional and deep capacity to love transcended three generations. Pat is survived by sons James Altzner, Jr (Marcelle) of Charleston, SC and Jeff Altzner (Rocio) of Melbourne, FL. She was a proud Grandmother to six Grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsey (Tim); Melissa Bordine; Kate Straiter (Nick); Lauren Altzner; Angela Altzner; and Patrick Altzner. Pat also had 5 Great Grandchildren, Grayson James, Lila and Evie Ramsey; and, Wesley James and Graham Straiter.

A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.  Words of comfort may be placed on the obituary page for Patricia Altzner at www.afcfcare.com
