Obituary of Paul Viane Thompson

Paul Viane Thompson Sr., 87, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Melbourne, Florida after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara and his daughter Mary Ellen Miceli. He leaves his children: Stephen, Catherine Hathaway, Elizabeth Johnson, Barbara McGahey, Paul (Elizabeth), Thomas (Lola) and grandchildren: Crystal, Michael, Ian, Timothy, Lauren, Jared and Kyle. In addition, he leaves behind 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. This gentle man loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed boating and being on the water more than anything. A native New Yorker, he spent his entire childhood and career there. As a sales manager for Bowling Green Van and Storage for over 20 years, Paul knew the metropolitan New York area like the back of his hand and could find an alternate route for anyone stuck in a traffic jam. He retired to Florida where he spent his time with friends and family enjoying the water. Paul was a proud veteran of the US Navy. A memorial will be held later this year when friends and family members can unite in celebrating Paul’s life in his beloved Greenport.
