Obituary of Marie Calabro

Marie Calabro, a long-time resident of the Melbourne area, died on October 7, 2015 at age 92. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her long life. Born July 12, 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island, Marie was one of seven children. She moved to Melbourne in 1956, and worked for Dictaphone for many years. She had a strong work ethic, which she instilled in her children. Marie was the daughter of the late Josephine and Joseph Rainone. She was predeceased by siblings Anna Rainone, Joseph Rainone, Margaret DeSimone, and Fred Rainone. She is survived by her sisters Phyllis Constantino of Melbourne, and Angie DeLucia of Providence, Rhode Island. She is also survived by her daughters JoAnn (Earl) Knick and Jori-Lee (Jonathan) Hughes and son Stephen (Dawn) Calabro, all of Melbourne. She had 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family including nieces and nephews. She loved her family and was much loved and adored by them. She relished the many happy, boisterous, and fun family gatherings. Marie was a superb Italian cook, a skill she passed on to her daughters and their families. Music was a big part of her life. She was a wonderful singer with a charismatic personality who was often asked to sing, and loved to do so. She enjoyed singing karaoke, and reminiscing with her sister Phyllis. Marie was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, VFW Post 4206, and the Moose Lodge. She made friends wherever life took her and will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1626 Oak Street, Melbourne on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at noon. Burial will follow the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery, Palm Bay.In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie+óGé¼Gäós honor may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
