Obituary of Roderick Alexander Chauncey

Roderick Alexander Chauncey, 33, of Palm Bay passed away at his home in Palm Bay on Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was a graduate of Melbourne High School Class of 2000 and Brevard Community College in 2002. Roderick had worked at Brainstore AG in construction, design and computer transcription and at Marties Jewelers. A volunteer at St. Herman’s House of Hospitality, he did missionary work to assist the community’s homeless people. He volunteered at Brevard Community College in student government and by tutoring classmates in math. He was awarded the FIT Secme Gold Medal, National Merit Scholarship, certificate of excellence in geography bee, National Council of Teacher’s English Award and Duke University’s Mathematic and verbally gifted award. Roderick is survived by his mother Rosemarie (Bruce) Schrell; father Brian Chauncey; brother Randolph (Sunny) Chauncey; nephew Dadoren Chauncey; aunt Jane (Mark) Magda; uncle Fred (Karen) Soukup; aunt Donna Stoicoui; uncle John (Valerie) Soukup; aunt Mary Maharidge; uncle Greg (Naomi) Chauncey; aunt Marcia (Jim) Mendolera; grandmother Linda Anselment; grandfather William (Margaret) Schrell; uncle Robert (Gay) Schrell; uncle Michael Schrell. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Marian Chauncey; and Frederick and Alice Soukup of Cleveland,Ohio. Roderick’s calling hours are from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2014 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road, SE, Palm Bay. His Funeral Mass is at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N. Highway A1A, Indialantic, FL.
