Obituary of Evelyn Allen Hubscher

Evelyn Allen Hubscher, 91, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, formerly of Washington D.C., died peacefully in her sleep on July 27, 2016. Evelyn was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late James and Eunice (McCann) Allen. Survivors include her sons Robert Leroy (Ann Marie) of Rockledge, Florida, and Jeffrey Allen (Iris) of Sanford, North Carolina, grandchildren William Hubscher (Lorie) of Huntsville, Alabama, Kathleen Quarnaccio (Tony) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Susan Houts (Aaron) of Palm Bay, Florida, and great-grandsons Robert and Michael of Huntsville, Alabama. Evelyn began her career as the private secretary to the President of Weaver Brothers Inc., a mortgage banking company in Washington D.C. Her employers recognized her professionalism and brilliant mind for business and she retired as assistant vice president of the company. She moved to Cocoa Beach upon retirement to be closer to her family. Immersing herself in her new community, Evelyn volunteered for numerous organizations and charities. As a member and eventually first vice-president of the Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club, she participated in beautification projects throughout the Cocoa Beach area. She joined the Friends of the Cocoa Beach Public Library, assisted at the polls during election season, served with the Meals on Wheels Association, and used her business acumen to work with senior citizens on their tax forms through AARP. She also volunteered at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.A private memorial service to celebrate Evelyn’s life was held Sunday, July 31, at the Wuesthoff Hospice Center Chapel in Rockledge.In lieu of flowers, please spend some time with your family.
