Obituary of Ronald Dean Symons

Ronald Dean Symons, 77, passed away peacefully at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Wuesthoff Hospice House due to cancer. Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; son Ron Jr. (Christine); and daughter Alice of Sacramento. He also has two surviving brothers Robert and Gibbie. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin to Gilbert and Ila (Pfaff) Symons on April 14, 1938. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy. He met his wife while stationed at Whidbey Island, WA. After the Navy, he worked as a computer programmer for the rest of his career. He also served as a Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy in San Diego with his man-trailing bloodhound. Ron and his family lived in five states, ending in Rockledge, FL. Ron was very proud of his children. Ron loved to travel, especially to the Scandinavian countries, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed cheering for his Wisconsin area sports teams. He loved going out to eat and was active helping people with their taxes, computer problems, and digitizing genealogy information. In May of 1999, he had a liver transplant. Toward the end of his life he enjoyed bingo and for a time called the numbers. He will be missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at Advent Lutheran Church at 7550 N. Wickham Road on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 2 p.m.
