Obituary of Libbie Jo Wier Loper Moseley

Libbie Jo Wier Loper Moseley died peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2017 in Palm Bay, Florida at the age of 93. Libbie is survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Loper Schrag (and husband Roger Schrag) of Oakland, California; Richard B. Loper of Melbourne, Florida; and David C. Loper, III (and wife Tracy Loper) of West Melbourne, Florida; step-grandchildren Kimberly Moseley McFarland of Sarasota, Florida; Albert Moseley, IV of Lorton, Virginia; great-grandchildren Destani Loper, Hunter Loper, and Bridger Loper, of Melbourne, Florida; Christopher Nelson of Ballston Lake, New York; great-great-grandchild, Major Loper and a great-great-granddaughter on the way. Libbie is preceded in death by first husband, David Loper (1973), second husband, Albert Moseley, Jr. (1987), and son, David Loper, Jr. (1994). Libbie was born in Enterprise, Mississippi on May 30, 1924 to Joseph and Beatrice Wier. She grew up in Gautier, Mississippi and spent much of her life in her beloved home on Oak Street that she filled with family heirlooms and beautiful antique furniture. She loved sharing stories of travelling and living abroad in Trinidad, Germany, and Japan when her husband, David Loper, was in the Navy. In 2005, she moved to Florida to be near her grandsons. She was especially close with nephew Warren Loper of Pascagoula, Mississippi, who also visited her in Florida. She loved gardening, home decorating, and was talented with many home crafts. She made many cherished tapestries, afghans, and quilts for her loved ones. She also loved flowers, and for many years she arranged the flowers for the Sunday morning services at First Baptist Church of Gautier. The family would like to thank Beth Ann Meyer and the wonderful caregivers of Boppa’s Home in Palm Bay, Florida for the loving care they provided in Libbie’s final years. A service will be held at 10am, Saturday, Sept. 30 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier, Mississippi.
