Obituary of Josephine Algeri

Josephine Algeri MELBOURNE – Josephine “Jodi” Algeri, 77, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017, after lengthy illnesses. For many years she courageously battled NTM, bronchiectasis, triple-negative breast cancer, and COPD. Jodi was born March 12, 1940, in New York, NY, to the late Paul and Lucy (Lodato) Algeri. After spending her early years on Long Island, NY, Jodi moved to Florida in 1985 and worked at various jobs. Her last was as a teaching assistant for the Brevard County Schools in University Park Elementary School and then Central Middle School, from which she retired in 2007. Jodi’s interests included cooking, crafts, and travel by motor home, spending summers in places as varied as Denver, CO; Michigan; New York’s Catskill and Adirondack Mountains and Long Island; Cape Cod, MA; Hendersonville, NC; and many places in between. Jodi is survived by her loving and devoted companion of 21 years, Rob Scharpf; her children, Deborah Jacobini of Palm Bay and Jodi Baldwin of Hobe Sound; grandchildren William Schwarz, Danielle Ferri, Kerri Welch, Alison Welch, and Brianna Welch; and seven great-grandchildren, Devin Welch, Brittany Chadman, Lance Ferri, Makayla Chadman, Nathan Cauthan, Miguel Ortiz and Kayden Cauthan.   She is also survived by her brother’s Paul and John Algeri. Entrusted to the care of Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care in Melbourne, a celebration of Jodi’s life will take place in the near future, location, date and time to be announced.
