Obituary of Patricia Bowen Crane

Patricia Bowen Crane, 76, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL. Born in Duffield, VA, as the only child of Bascom and Emma Vic Bowen, she moved to West Melbourne, FL in 1971 from Ohio. A school teacher and lifelong education advocate, Pat was a straight A student at Ohio University and earned a Masters Degree from the Florida Institute of Technology. She touched the lives of many (thousands) students while teaching at Meadowlane Elementary and briefly at Lockmar Elementary. Pat was independent and had a sense of adventure. She traveled the world learning all she could without fear or worry. Pat would do anything for her family and friends and put others’ needs ahead of her own. Pat made lifelong friends with many of her teacher colleagues. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Gene Crane, in 2009. A loving, strong, and devoted mother and grandmother she is survived by her sons, Michael (Detroit), Aaron (Louisville), and Brian (Indialantic). She had seven grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Joshua, Zachary, Rebekah, Bowen, Sydney, Andrew and Elliott. She also loved her daughter in-laws and treated them as the daughters she never had: Cheryl, Lydia, and Jamie. Pat’s wishes were that there be no service. She will be laid to rest in the Bowen Family Cemetery in Duffield, VA. Donations to any educational organization in her name would be greatly appreciated.
