Obituary of Miriam Audrey Caskey

Miriam Audrey Caskey passed away peacefully in Palm Bay, Florida on February 16, 2016 after a long courageous battle with cancer.+é-á She was 87. Mrs. Caskey was born in Newark, NJ to John Adair and Anna Marie Barrett on June 24, 1928.+é-á She had 4 brothers and sisters. In her early twenties she worked as a telephone operator and a “soda jerk” at Woolworth’s Department Store.+é-á She met her future husband Howard Caskey in 1953 (who preceded her in death in 1982) at her favorite hangout, the roller skating rink. +é-á They married and moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1960. Mrs. Caskey worked as an Elementary School Cafeteria Manager in Broward County before moving to Brevard County in 1991 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a committed volunteer at Lockmar Elementary School for over 15 years before finally putting her school mentoring on the shelf at the ripe old age of 82. Her extensive love of children and volunteer work will be missed, but not forgotten. She spent countless hours writing poetry and was a devout mother and grandmother.+é-á Her children and grandchildren were the “loves of her life.” She is survived by her daughter Deborah Caskey-Wilkinson, son Kenneth Caskey, son-in-law Tim Wilkinson and beloved grandchildren Shae and Christian Wilkinson. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne.In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks a donation be made in her name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
