Obituary of Grant Hugh Braun

Grant Hugh Braun died Thursday, January 11, 2018, at his home in Cocoa Beach, FL. He was 91. Born in Inglewood, CA, on August 23, 1926, to John Jacob Braun and Elizabeth Pfaff-Braun. He served in the US Air Force Asiatic Pacific Campaign during WWII. An avid golfer, Grant earned an agronomist degree from the University of California-Davis. He enjoyed a long career in soil and seed rotation research. He retired from Utah-based Great Salt Lake Minerals where he traveled throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and across the United States promoting the latest in plant harvest and cultivation to increase nutritional value of crops. Mourning his death but celebrating his life is his best bud and long-time companion Sydney Sykes, three children: Christopher Braun of Sarasota, FL, Barrett (Daphne) Braun of Pleasant Hill, CA, and Anna (Dave) Leith of Salem, OR; five grandchildren: Gillian and Alex Braun, Ronan Braun, and Maren and Casey Leith, many relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Everett Braun and Robert Braun. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Grant’s name to the American Heart Association.
