Obituary of Calvin Boone Tiller

Calvin Boone Teller 95, formally of Galax, Virginia; Interlachen, Florida, passed away on July 15, 2016 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Estella (Stella) Frances Myers Tiller and 5 children. A son James Calvin Tiller (Marilyn), daughter Betty Martin Wood (Daniel deceased), Gelene (Gigi) Thompson (Harold), Venus LaBounty (Charles), and Kathy Ayers (Gary). Also 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Loucille Taylor of Princeton, West Virginia and two brother, John Allen Tiller of Knoxville, Tn and Joseph Tiller of Hillsboro, NC. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Mary Tiller Ham, and a brother, Fred Jerry Tiller. He was born in Beaver Creek Pond, West Virginia in Mercer County on July 31, 1920. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) as a young man and served with the US Marine Corps in Iwo Jima during WWII. He was a carpenter, barber, farmer, a lover of wrestling and a cowboy at heart. A visitation will be held a Ammens Funeral Home in Melbourne, Florida from 10-11 AM followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Palatka, Florida on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 1 PM.
