Obituary of Beatrice Peck Toll

Beatrice Peck Toll, 93, was born March 1, 1923 and passed away January 11, 2017 at home in Palm Bay, Florida surrounded by her immediate family which included two dogs. Bea was born and raised in her beloved lower Manhattan. She was the loving daughter of Lena and Morris Peck and had two siblings Bernie Peck and Shirley Orlando who predeceased her passing. Bea was married to Leslie Bruce Toll in 1955 until his passing in 1990. Bea grew up during the depression which left an indelible mark upon her. Throughout her life she truly appreciated everything and never had an unkind word for anyone. Bea was a secretary and had been employed by Schrank (NYC), Montgomery Ward (NYC), Oceana Publishing Company (Dobbs Ferry), the Children's Village (Dobbs Ferry) and Walmart (in her later years because nothing could slow this beautiful woman down). Bea simply loved everything about life and lived by the golden rule. Most importantly, Bea loved her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Toll Stoffa, son in law, Lawrence Stoffa and two wonderful grandsons, Michael and Jamie Stoffa, and two dogs. The light of Bea's life was her two grandsons who loved her beyond measure. Bea was so proud of Michael and Jamie-always offering loving support and encouragement to everything they did. Bea is also the loving and favorite aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Anyone who met my mom was an instant friend. She was a very special lady. Bea and her family lived in many different places until she settled in Dobbs Ferry, NY a very special place to her. Many happy memories were made in Dobbs Ferry along with some lifelong friendships. Bea and her husband were instrumental in initiating the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps. And served as a volunteer for many years. Bea was also a Brownie Leader and did a lot of volunteer work wherever she lived. The mighty Hudson River was always a special place for Bea and her late husband, Les. Bea and her late husband, Leslie Bruce Toll relocated to Cornwall on Hudson in 1990 to be closer to her daughter's family and immediately. During her 22+ years in Cornwall on Hudson, Bea made many new and forever friends as well. She was an avid reader, loved the arts, music and film. Bea was literally a historian in her own right. Bea loved animals, people, nature and was a kind, sweet wonderful person who will be forever missed by many who had the privilege to know her. Bea relocated to sunny central Florida 2 ½ years ago with her daughter, son in law and grandsons. It is there that she lived out the rest of her wonderful life……. happy and carefree. A private cremation service will be held in Florida and a celebration of Bea's life will be held in Dobbs Ferry in the springtime.
