Obituary of George E. Hughes

George (Butch) Edward Hughes, born in White Plains, NY on April 12th, passed away on Tuesday, may 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay, sons Michael and Steven; sister Tondra and his beloved black lab, Ben and many dear friends. George worked for G.M. Foundry for 25 years in Buffalo, NY, and Danville, IL. He had many occupations after moving to Melbourne, Florida….owner/operator of the first Spin Bike Facility in Brevard County, coordinator at Our Club Health, Personal Trainer and Line Cook at F.I.T. College. Before passing, George was also a part-time custodian at Central Baptist Church. He loved working and touched many lives doing so. He was an avid athlete, participating in a variety of activities his entire life: hockey, swimming, bicycling, running, marathons, running, marathons, riding motorcycles, boating, RV camping and showing off his beloved classic Chevy Camaro Z28 at many car shows. He attended Life’s Oasis Church and belonged to Melbourne Moose Lodge #1406. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 17th at 2 pm , at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001, South Hickory Street, Melbourne, Florida. Pastor Elmer Floyd officiating.
