Hilda Smith

Obituary of Hilda May Smith

Hilda was born on a Sunday in Cleveland Ohio in 1920. She was the most wonderful, smart, awesome person. Whether as a mom, grandma, great grandma, relative, friend, casual acquaintance or complete stranger +óGé¼GÇ£ her dynamic personality presented in everything she accomplished or set out to do. Earlier in life she was a beautician in Cleveland. Upon moving to Florida with her husband and raising her family she worked as a secretary for the Brevard County Health Department and upon retiring enjoyed her other loves, crocheting, crafting and bowling. As a member of “Busy Fingers” at Martin Anderson Senior Center in Rockledge she assisted in teaching. Upon moving to Port St John she enjoyed her craft class at the PSJ Library. Her enthusiasm was contagious. She never hesitated to correct you on your color choice, the way to hold your crochet hook, or the proper way to stand when you bowl. She always cared enough to share her expertise. She generously shared her beautiful creations with friends and family and we will cherish them always. Hilda peacefully slipped away from us on Sunday, March 20, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Raymond B. Smith, who passed in 2009, and her parents Wesley and Florence Phillips and her brother Wilbur Phillips. All here that knew her will miss her greatly, but especially her loving family. Children (and Spouses): Danny (Linda), David (Bonnie), Susie (Tom) and Cindy (Kenny). Grandchildren: Judy, Joel, LuAnn, David, Donnie, Bryan, Eric, Amy and Melissa, along with 16 great grandchildren including the new “Sundays Child” Adelyn Rae. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her the past several years and especially the staff and residents at Palm Cottages in Rockledge. All our welcome at a gathering to celebrate her life on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2 PM at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, N.
