Obituary of Hugh Robert Stott

Hugh Robert Stott, 73, of Melbourne Beach, Florida died suddenly at home on January 20th 2018, after surviving a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.  He was born in Troy, New York, son of the late Marshall R. Stott and Eleanor R. Stott. Hugh is survived by his wife who was his dedicated caregiver, Nancy, son Derek Marshall Stott and his wife Peggy of Houston, Texas, daughter Megan Rae Stott of Melbourne Beach, Florida, grandsons Maxwell Hugh Stott and Jace Tyler Stott who brought much joy to him during his illness, brother David M. Stott and wife Becky, of Ocala, Florida, sister Leslie A. Roedel and husband Charles, of San Jose, California, stepson John Layton, Robesonia, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from Waterveliet High School, he completed the General Electric Apprentice Training Program in Schenectady, New York.  In addition to serving in the US Army, he attended Sienna College while working for GE. At mid-career, he joined Public Service Electric and Gas Company in Newark, New Jersey as the corporate Turbine Engineer.  He retired in 2004 from the PSEG as Maintenance Services Manager. He enjoyed time in the Adirondack and Pocono Mountains, golfing, downhill skiing, boating, and fishing with his family throughout his life.  He was an active Boy Scout in his youth and also an adult leader for many years. Hugh and his family would like to acknowledge the care and treatment he received at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  The care he received there extended his life by many years. Calling hours will be at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care in Melbourne, FL Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Hagarty & Scalia in Old Bridge, NJ Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 1 pm to  5 pm. Donations in his honor can be made to MD Anderson or the American Cancer Society.
