Obituary of Walter Jack Braselton

Walter Jack Braselton, 91, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at home with family present on January 29, 2016. Jack was born in Patoka, Indiana, September 9, 1924, to William Orville and Lillis Slinker Braselton. Jack was an army World War II veteran serving in England, Normandy, Belgium, Germany, and France. After being wounded and honorably discharged, he received the Purple Heart for meritorious service for his country. Jack went to Greenville College in Ann Arbor, Michigan, achieving his Ministerial License and started Youth for Christ Ministries in Gibson County and the Evansville, Indiana tri-state area; pastored in several churches for the Free Methodist Church in southern Illinois and Indiana then Nazarene churches in Orlando, Florida and Owensville, Indiana. Jack was actively involved in jail ministry in Orlando, Florida prison system and helped physically build Nazarene Churches in the African-American communities in Orlando, Florida. Jack was an electrician and builder, building an iconic three story log house in rural Owensville, Indiana and owned several successful businesses with his wife Ruth Ann. Jack had a very successful pest control business with the only Gibson County aerial crop dusting certification. Jack was a member of the local DAV, American Legion, VFW, Chaplain for the Lions Club District 25 for Southern Indiana and Member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Pest Control Association. Jack was always funny and engaging to all he met, never meeting a stranger, either making people laugh or telling them how wonderful the Lord saved him, protected him and healed him. His pride was a concept he developed as a means for his business +óGé¼+ôUsed Post Holes for Sale+óGé¼-¥, getting many a laugh and curious callers but always ending the conversation with his favorite saying, +óGé¼+ôhave a happy forever+óGé¼-¥. Jack leaves behind his brother Fred Braselton (Lois) of Princeton, Indiana; four children Rebecca Ann Chanudet (John) of Rockledge, Florida, Tim Braselton (Patricia) of Lees Summit, Missouri, Paul Braselton (Irene) of Ahu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Lizz Braselton of Rockledge, Florida, adopted daughter by osmosis, Connie F. Mann of Rockledge, Florida. Eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, along with many other nieces, nephews and other family and friends in Florida and Indiana. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Kendle Braselton of 62 years, and seven siblings.A celebration of life will be held April 2, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Rockledge Cross Bridge Church of the Nazarene, 651 Barnes Blvd, Rockledge, Florida.In lieu of flowers, Jack’s greatest joy was seeing the Cross Bridge Church school and day care expand and grow.
