Obituary of Linda Gray Bradley

Linda G. Bradley, 68, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 after a 33 month battle with cancer. She enjoyed living and serving others for more than 2 years after she was expected to succumb. In fact, she prepared a feast of turkey with all the trimmings for family members less than 4 days before she was hospitalized. Linda was born on January 23, 1948 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Elmer “Dutch” Gray and the late Mary Elsie Gray. She lived in the same house on Granby Street until she married after graduating from Old Dominion University in 1969. She attended Bayview United Church of Christ (Congregational) until she was married. She was active in leading the junior choir at Bayview for several years. Bonds of friendship originating at Bayview UCC have lasted to this day. Linda moved to Brevard County, Florida in the 1976 time frame after a brief sojourn in Dania, Florida. Beginning in Cape Canaveral, she eventually moved to Melbourne Beach in 1984 to live in a home she designed. Linda’s career was in Healthcare Administration automation, installing computer systems in hospitals. She worked for Shared Medical Systems (SMS) until it was purchased by Siemens in 2000. Soon after that she began working for Holmes Regional Medical Center at the “B” lobby in Melbourne as a registrar. Linda served on the Cape Canaveral City Council, the Brevard Municipal Planning Organization, and the Brevard Commission on the Status of Women. She volunteered at Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE), the Brevard Environmentally Endangered Lands Program, the Barrier Island Center in the South Beaches, and at the Daily Bread Thrift Shop. She assisted at the Cold Night Shelter for the homeless and at the Food Pantry at His Place Ministries. A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at His Place Ministries, 1824 S Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne at the corner of Strawbridge Ave. In lieu of flowers, Linda has requested donations to His Place Ministries, 1824 S Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne 32901
