Walter Petty

Obituary of Walter S. Petty

Walter S. Petty, II died peacefully at his home on Monday, September 11, 2017. He was born on May 1, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Earle Leslie and Beverlee Alice Vigneault. Along with Mary, Howard, Jeff and Tony, he moved to Florida in 1982 to be closer to their family. Walt proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam, followed by a lifelong distinguished career in law enforcement. He was passionate in each area he served – the Motorcycle Unit, DUI Task Force, and courthouse Sergeant while a deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. His weekend time was spent boating with family and friends and raising and judging Love Birds. Walt’s proudest accomplishment was raising his two sons, Jeff and Tony, who are fine, respectable family men. Mary and Walt enjoyed each other’s company for 38 years, having just celebrated their anniversary on August 18. Through all of life’s ups and downs, rough and tough times, if you knew Walt well, you laugh and smile about life. Together they toured the Caribbean on Carnival Cruise Lines – one cruise at a time with Grand Turk being one of their favorite locations in the Grand Turks and Caicos Islands. This quiet, soft spoken man will be incredibly missed by Mary, Jeff, and grandson Aedan; Tony and daughter-in-law Christi; sister Sandi and brother-in-law Dale Kile; sister-in-law Bev Petty; aunt Mary Alice Vigneault along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walt was preceded in death by his parents; sister Tommy Lu and brother Earle.
