Obituary of AR “Russ” R Anderson

AR +óGé¼+ôRuss+óGé¼-¥ Anderson slipped away while sleeping Saturday morning, May 2, 2015 at his home in Melbourne. Russ was born in Newport News, VA on October 19, 1925. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander and Pilot, from the US Navy, again from IBM, and finished out his career selling commercial real estate with Evans-Butler Realty. Russ had many interests but mostly he loved his children Robin (Rob) Hoyman, Kimberly (Ernest) Stuart, Lori (Ron) Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Meg (Joe) Pellino and Gabe Webber He was devoted to his grandchildren Tyson, Justin, Ashley, Salen, Ansley, and Chase. He cherished his great grandson, Camden. Last but not least, he leaves behind his soul mate and wife of nearly 35 years, Lucia. He was preceded in death by his children, Greg Anderson, Cynthia Anderson and Mark Anderson. Russ loved his involvement with Palm Bay Youth Sports and the hundreds of kids and families he worked with there. He worked to fight drug abuse with many local organizations. He was honored to serve the country he loved for 21 years and carried his devotion to country to the end. Friends will gather at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 Hickory Street, Melbourne to remember and celebrate his life. He will be buried with military honors at Ft. Rosencrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. In lieu of flowers consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
