Obituary of Kelly Apkarian

After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Kelly Apkarian passed away on January 2, 2017, surrounded by family. She lived her life with courage and grace, in spite of adversity. She was born December 22, 1981 at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL. She lived and worked as a hair stylist for ten years in Chicago until moving to Florida in 2012 with her daughter Josie to be closer to family. Kelly was an extraordinary mom and Josie was her greatest joy. Kelly touched many lives and made friends wherever she went. She excelled at dance, art, and photography, and had an incredible talent for finding style and beauty in everything. Kelly lived her life independently and to the fullest; no mountain was too high to climb. When faced with difficulties, Kelly rose above and faced the challenges head-on, setting a great example that will live on in her family and her daughter. Right until the end, her biggest concern was for her family, friends, and cats. Kelly will be dearly missed all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Faulkner; her parents, Jean and Tom Curran and Joseph and Dianne Apkarian; and her sister, Rebecca Curran. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on January 14th, 2017 at St. Sebastian's by the Sea in Melbourne Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Josie’s college fund. Checks can be made out to “Josephine Faulkner – College Fund” or donations can be made online at www.youcaring.com/josephinefaulkner-729889.
