Obituary of Mary Anne Westervelt

Mary Anne Westervelt, a resident of Melbourne for the last 15 years, died on September 23 at the Melbourne Terrace Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was 80 and lived at the Century Oaks Assisted & Independent Living Facility in Melbourne. She was born on April 29, 1937, in Mount Vernon, NY, daughter of the late George and Margaret Hannigan Keppel, and grew up in New Rochelle, NY, attending local schools. She married Richard Westervelt on March 11, 1967. The couple resided in Scarsdale, NY, where Ms. Westervelt had a career as a legal secretary that spanned some 30 years. She and her husband retired to Florida in 2002, where Ms. Westervelt continued to pursue her lifelong love of learning, taking adult education classes until the time of her passing. In addition to her husband, of Melbourne, she is survived by a sister, Virginia Sweeny, of Yarmouth Port, MA; as well as a niece, nephew and several cousins.
