Obituary of Warren Stillman Olin

Colonel Warren Stillman Olin (Retired), 96, passed away peacefully June 16, 2016 at home in Melbourne Beach, FL where he lived for 43 years. He retired from the US Army in 1973 after having bravely served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1919 and was the son of Ned and Emily Olin. He grew up in Oneonta and Rye, NY and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Civil Engineering where he was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity. He received a master’s degree from Rollins College and pursued a ten year career with the State of Florida. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Warren met his wife, Martha Estopinal, while she was attending LSU, Baton Rouge, LA, and they married in 1944. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. Warren volunteered at Patrick Air Force Base for over 1000 hours, served on the Melbourne Beach Code Enforcement Board, and was a Keep Brevard Beautiful volunteer. He was an avid golfer and served as president of his golf association and enjoyed every opportunity he could to travel with his family. He attended for many years the Retired Military Police Association reunions. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Olin Manno and Marti Olin; his granddaughter, Jennifer Walker Barwick and her husband Ben Barwick; great-grandchildren, May and Walker Barwick; his sister, Natalie Taylor and niece, Priscilla Creed, nephews, William and Eugene Taylor; and great-nephew, Grant Taylor. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Martha Estopinal Olin and devoted daughter, Kathleen Olin Walker. In the coming months Colonel Olin with his wife Martha will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
