Anne Cairnes

Obituary of Anne Fletcher Cairnes

Anne Fletcher Cairnes was born to Harold and Frances Fletcher in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1932. She shared many stories of her childhood adventures with her older sister Dot and her big brother Dave. Not long after graduating from Logan High School in 1950, Anne traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to assist Dot as she and Phil raised their large family. Anne joined the choir at Overland Presbyterian Church and there met the love of her life, Herb. Anne and Herb were married in June, 1955 and enjoyed 60 years as husband and wife. They were blessed by the births of their daughters Diane and Judi while living in Missouri. The family relocated to Brevard County in 1968 and have remained ever since. Anne+óGé¼Gäós love of music followed her throughout her life. She played the baritone in her high school band, and also was a skilled pianist and organist. She accompanied numerous high school students at local and state competitions over the years, and was active in the MIHS band parent association in the 1980+óGé¼Gäós. Anne was the organist at Merritt Island Presbyterian Church for many years and often filled in at other local churches as needed. She sang in the church choir until her failing health forced her to stop, but she never stopped singing around the house. Anne was an active member of her community, enjoying fellowship with the ladies of Merritt Island Women+óGé¼Gäós Club, the Crimson Classics of the South, and serving with the Rolling Readers in Brevard County and on many committees at Merritt Island Presbyterian Church. Anne and Herb spent many joyous years of their retirement traveling the country in their RV, building a home in North Carolina, and visiting Europe on a few occasions. She was an avid reader who loved reading all types of books and magazines. Her quick wit was always appreciated and she continued to share smiles and brighten her caregivers+óGé¼Gäó days even as her health declined. Her family includes her husband of 60 years Herbert Cairnes; daughter Judi (Mark) Wallace; grandsons Travis (Kelly) Franklin, Casey (Dana) Franklin, David Wallace, Michael Wallace; granddaughters Rebecca Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace; great grandson Matthew Franklin; great granddaughter Ashleigh Franklin; and son-in-law Ralph (Jill) Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold & Frances Fletcher; daughter Diane Franklin; sister, Dot Newell and brother David Fletcher. Anne+óGé¼Gäós love of family was evident to everyone who knew her. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family photos graced the walls of her home and she was quick to tell of each member+óGé¼Gäós latest accomplishments. The oldest grandchildren were blessed to be able to take vacations with their grandparents over the years. Anne Cairnes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. We are, however, thankful that she will no longer suffer any pain or discomfort and is resting in the arms of her loving Saviour. We do not grieve as those who have no hope, but we believe that we will see her again one day in God+óGé¼Gäós glorious kingdom. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. +óGé¼GÇ£Romans 12:12Anne’s service will be Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Merritt Island Presbyterian Church, 600 S.
