Obituary of Lois Marie Search

Lois Marie Search was born on March 4, 1965 at Bay Harbor Hospital in Harbor City, California to William Nicholas and Vesta Marie Search.  Lois grew up in Manhattan Beach, California and later moved to Gardena, California.  Despite her limitations due to a physical condition called diastrophic dysplasia, she obtained an A.A. degree from El Camino Community College, a B.A. in Psychology from Biola University, and almost completed her Masters in Human Services at California State University, Dominguez Hills (which she put on hold to help take care of her ailing parents).  After her mother’s death, she got involved with a talent agency and had fun doing a little acting. In January 2003, she moved to Melbourne, Florida where she became the C.E.O. of the non-profit organization called Independent Achievers of Brevard, Inc.  In addition to starting a magazine for the purpose of “promoting independence through knowledge for people with diverse abilities and needs, while educating public awareness”, in 2008 she was asked to speak in Washington, DC addressing the topic of employment and the disabled.  She also served as the president of her local Little People of America chapter. She was survived by her brother Roger, his children, another brother Lee and sister Ruby and many close friends.  After a long illness, she passed away on April 16, 2018 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.  A graveside service for Lois will be held Friday 27, 2018 at 10 A.M. at the Melbourne City Cemetery.  The address is 710 E.
