Obituary of Kristin Kay Goodnight

Kristin K. Goodnight, 59, of Melbourne, died October 1, 2017. Kristin Goodnight was zealous for God, dedicated to her family, committed to her students and passionate about the performing arts. To everyone that came in contact with her, she was known as a staunch prayer warrior and unwavering in her faith. Born in Los Angeles, California in 1957, Kristin was the eldest daughter of Gordon and Ruth Hamilton of Tucson, AZ. As a senior in high school, she joined Up With People (touring singing cast) and afterwards she received her Bachelor from the University of Arizona for Music Education. She started her music teaching career, in Phoenix, AZ, at Starlight Park Elementary School. In 1990, she moved to Florida, with her husband, and shortly after took the position of music teacher at Country Beginnings (Preschool). Once her eldest daughter started Kindergarden, at Covenant Christian School, Kristin accepted the position as music teacher at CCS. While at CCS, Kristin took on the roles of Choir Director and Drama Teacher. She had the ability to seek out, expose and shape the talent she found in her students. Her passion for music was evident and she believed anyone could be reached through music. Once she retired from CCS, in 2015, Kristin pursued a position at Pregnancy Resources. She believed fervently in their mission and took on the role as manager for the Pregnancy Resources Resale Store and assisted in teaching their parenting classes. “Mrs. G”, as a she was known lovingly by her students, worked tirelessly to cultivate her students potential, confidence and love for Christ. Kristin is survived by Steven, her steadfast husband of 32 years; daughter Rachel (Chandler Skipper) and grandson John Chandler of South Carolina; daughter Hannah of Georgia; mother Ruth of Florida; brother Bret (Denise Hamilton), niece, Shannon of New Mexico and nephew, Cameron (Melanie Hamilton) of Nebraska; sister Lori (Dan O’Toole), nephew , Connor and niece, Erin of Arizona; sister Lynnelle (Joseph Anderson), niece, Lorrin (Nathan Naasz) and nephew, Joey of South Dakota. “She did not deviate from the pattern of obedience, proving the genuineness of her love for Christ” Arrangements by Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Palm Bay, FL., 321-724-2224.
