Obituary of Coralee Griffith Keehn

Coralee Griffith Keehn of Merritt Island, Florida, walked into the arms of our heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Coralee was born on February 24, 1934 in Highland Park, Illinois, the child of Joshua Todd (J.T.) and Helen Leonard Griffith. Coralee was the first daughter and second child in a family of five children. Coralee graduated from Highland Park High School and went on the University of Wisconsin in Madison in the fall of 1952. At the University, Coralee met Douglas Keehn from Cedarburg, Wisconsin while on a blind date. While Doug finished his Engineering degree, Coralee became a Stewardess for United Airlines for approximately eighteen months. Doug and Coralee were married on May 23, 1956 in Bradford, Pennsylvania where her parents were living. After their marriage, Doug and Coralee lived many places before finally retiring in Merritt Island where they have lived for the past 27 years. Coralee dedicated her entire life to her husband Doug and their children; Helen Ann, Douglas Allen and Virginia Lynn. Mom always supported Dad in his career at Mercury Marine and was also an inspiration and encouragement in their 58 years of marriage. Mom was also a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother, we could always pick up the phone or stop by for a visit to receive her love and reassurance that no matter what was going on in our lives or what was on the horizon, she would be there with her kind words and gentle love and guidance. Coralee is survived by Doug, her husband of 58 years, her daughter Helen (Tom) Carew of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and their children; Kelly (Kevin) Colwin, children Elliott and Violet, Kimberly (Ryan) Blick and their daughter Phoebe, Matthew Carew and Robyn Carew, son Douglas Keehn and his daughters Emily and Coralee and their mother Victoria Keehn, and daughter Virginia (Scott) Ransom of Madison, Wisconsin and son Scott Jr. and Rachel . Coralee is also survived by her three sisters; Virginia (Dick) Pinsker, Susan Johnson and Jane (Beck) Grabau, her sister-in-law Marilynn Griffith and many loving nieces and nephews. Coralee was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Todd, brother-in-law David Johnson, beloved grandson Daniel Todd Ransom and nieces Melinda Lee Pinsker Trinidad and Katherine Helen Johnson Swint.Funeral services for Coralee will be held on Saturday, March 15th at St. MarkGÇÖs Episcopal Church, 4 Church Street, Cocoa, Florida at 11:00 a.m. A reception in the parish hall will be held immediately following the service.
