n Loving  Memory of SMSGT Richard J. Mascolo, USAF Retired

(1955 - 2023)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of SMSGT Richard J. Mascolo, a loving father, brother and cherished grandfather. Richard left this world on 21 May 2023 after a courageous battle with illness, surrounded by his family. He was 67 years old.

Richard was born in Staten Island, NY on June 30, 1955, and from a young age, he displayed a remarkable dedication to service and an unwavering commitment to his country. He enlisted in the United States Air Force upon graduation from high school, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned over 23 years. Richard served his nation with honor, integrity, and bravery, rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His contributions to the Air Force were invaluable, and he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Richard was a beloved family man who brought love and joy to the lives of those around him

Richard was a loving and proud father to his son John D. Mascolo and his wife Glenda  and daughter Sara-Jayne Mascolo. He cherished his children and guided them with wisdom and kindness throughout their lives. His role as a father was not only a source of great pride but also an embodiment of his selflessness and deep love for his family.

Richard found immense joy in being a grandfather to his three grandsons, Aaron, Anthony, and Aiden Mascolo. He reveled in their laughter, celebrated their achievements, and cherished every precious moment spent with them. Richard's love and influence will forever be woven into the lives of his grandsons, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

Richard is also survived by his brother Glenn Mascolo, with whom he shared a special bond. Their brotherly connection was a source of support, friendship, and shared experiences throughout the years.

A true gentleman with a warm smile and a compassionate heart, Richard touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and country. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held at Ammen Funeral Home, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne, Florida on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Viewing will be from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM followed by a funeral service with Air Force Honors at 4:00 PM. Family, friends, and colleagues are welcome to pay their respects and share their memories of a remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. This will help continue the causes that were close to his heart and reflect his commitment to serving others.

As we mourn the loss of SMSGT Richard J. Mascolo, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived, the countless lives he touched, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find solace in the memories they shared.
