Nancy Joyce

Obituary of Nancy Miller Joyce

Nancy Miller Joyce, 75, passed away Nov 19, 2022 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL after complications from an extended hospital stay.

She was born Jan 20, 1947 in Asheville, NC to Frank (Bud) and Juanita Miller. After living in North Carolina for 13 years, the family moved to Melbourne, FL where Nancy graduated high school in 1965. She met her loving husband, Allen, during a vacation in Asheville, NC. They were married July 15, 1966 and remained virtually inseparable until Allen’s passing just over a year ago. Nancy attended secretarial college after high school and worked at Kennedy Space Center as a secretary. After their firstborn (Jennifer) came in 1971, they moved from Cape Canaveral to Melbourne, FL and Nancy began working at Bowe Gardens preschool where she spent almost 20 years, culminating her career as the director of the preschool.

Nancy loved her job at the preschool but truly loved the time it allowed her to spend at home; raising her kids and being the consummate homemaker. She was nonstop from dawn to dark taking care of every element involving her family. She lived to serve, and truly enjoyed playing host to any family or guest that entered her home. With kinfolk and friends frequently visiting from all over the country, and her immediate family in the area, Nancy’s kitchen got plenty of use and she always had a smile on her face providing for the ones she loved.

Nancy was an active member of Bowe Gardens Baptist Church where she remained heavily involved and engaged for over six decades. She espoused strong Christian values and was admired by many for her commitment to Christ. Nancy was an amazing cook and took pride in her ability to win people over with her Southern cuisine. She was easily pleased; ranging from a WalMart shopping trip to a tour of the leaves changing in The Smoky Mountains, but most of all she genuinely cherished spending time, doing ANYTHING with her family. The Holiday season was her favorite and she relished her position as family orchestrator during this time of year.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents, Bud and Juanita; and her brother, Steve. She is survived by her sister, Kathy; children, Jennifer and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Brittany Higgins (Michael); and great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Knox.
