Obituary of Jewell Dee Castrignano

Jewell Dee Castrignano, aged 81, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Melbourne Nursing and Rehab Center, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born April 6th,1941, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William Jordan and Hazel Jackson.  After residing and working in both Kentucky and Ohio, she relocated to West Melbourne Florida in 1975, where she raised a family of 9.  She owned and operated the popular Dixie Bingo on US 1, and other bingo halls in the Melbourne area for 15 years. After retiring from running Bingo, Jewell worked for the US government as a census taker for 12 years, retiring in 2011.  Jewell was very outgoing, vivacious, and lively, a real “people person” and truly lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises and going to international destinations such as Italy. She also loved the simple pleasures; chatting with friends, doing crochet, gambling, fishing, and spending time with her very large family. Jewell had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and was always there for the friends and family she loved. She touched the lives of so many in a positive way and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children Sharold (John) Moser, James Underwood Jr., Bill (Patty) King, Teri Mora, Denise (Samuel) Gough Step children Charlie (Sue) King, Curtis King, Robin King,  36 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister Linda (Bruce) Gambrell, as well many nieces and nephews. We Love You To The Moon & Back!

Family, friends, and others whose lives Jewell touched are invited to the Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, Florida from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
