Obituary of Philip G. Beloit

Philip G. Beloit, 78, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 after years of dialysis.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 2nd, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, Illinois followed by a family dinner at the Evangelical Free Church in Canton.

Phil was born April 27, 1944 in Taylorville, IL to Bob and Fern (Garrison) Beloit and was the youngest of their 6 children. After graduating high school, Phil worked as a forensic photographer and Deputy in the Sheriff's Department in Christian County. He married, mother of three, Carroll (May, Eddy) May 23, 1970. In December 1971, their newborn son Kevin Dwain lived only one day. Besides his passion for photography, genealogy gathering, and greeting card making, Phil worked at and enjoyed driving Motor Coach buses and Semi-tractor trailers for many years in Colorado and Illinois. After retiring, Phil and Carroll moved to Florida.

Phil is survived by daughter Toni (the late Mike) Sweeney of Palm Bay, FL; sons Randy (Donna) Eddy of Farmington, IL, and Scott Eddy also of Palm Bay, FL; six grandchildren Taryn Ward, Thomas Ward, Brandi Eddy, Janel (Doug) Brown, Kylie (the late Doug) Riney, and Michael Sweeney. Eleven great-grandchildren Kali, Ashlyn, Joshua, Kambell, Payton, Avari, Asher, Elea, James, Kinsley, and Ivan. Nieces Dorothy Schwartzkopf of Jacksonville, IL and Jacqueline (Bruce) McDaniel of Jacksonville, IL, Becky Beloit, and nephews Coleman Lauterbach and Robert (Robin) Belooit, and brother-in-law Dr. Ira (Mary) May of Gulfport, MS.

He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, siblings and their spouses, infant son, son-in-law, and grandson-in-law.

The family wishes to acknowledge the gentle care given Philip at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL and the Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care. 

Funeral services in Lewistown, IL will be provided by Sedgwick Funeral Home and Crematory of Canton. Pastor Matt Spangler of the Evangelical Free Church in Canton will officiate.
