CONNERY - Carol Louise (nee Papavero), was born in 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, the firstborn child of Louise Hons Papavero and Fred Papavero. She spent many happy hours boating on the Hudson River with her family, later joined by siblings Gail and Donald. She attended Fontbonne Academy, and considered entering the convent until she met the love of her life, Walter Connery. After marrying Walter, having two children, and moving to Long Island, she returned to complete her studies at Adelphi University, where she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Education and subsequently a Master's degree from Fordham. After moving to Centerport, NY, Carol embarked on an outstanding career in elementary education at Harborfields School District. Carol and Walter loved life in Centerport, entertaining family and friends and going on boating expeditions. They also travelled around the world and continued that tradition after they both retired to Florida. Carol was highly intelligent and an independent thinker. She was beautiful in both face and spirit and was a devout Catholic. She remained a lifelong learner, taking advantage of the local university near her new home. A talented artist, she endowed many wonderful works upon her family. She was indefatigable, constantly on the move, always concerned and supportive of her family, always cooking and baking, always game for the next adventure, and philosophical and active right up until the day she died unexpectedly. Survived by children Cliff (MaryAnne Friedel) and Lisa Connery; siblings Gail Kolendra (Steve Thomsen) and Donald Papavero (Joan); grandchildren Michael (Emily), Ryan, and Colin Connery; and her first great-grandchild Sadie, all of whom she fiercely loved. Carol was most recently in the midst of painting a portrait of Sadie, when her life, like the portrait, was cut short far too soon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church 5330 Babcock St. NE Palm Bay, Florida.
