Obituary of Oscar Antonio Restrepo

Oscar Antonio Restrepo passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family members, on May 27, 2021, at the age of 83.  Oscar was born in Urrao Colombia on June 13, 1937, to Jesus “Chito” Restrepo and Alicia Gomez.  He moved to the United States in 1961 and worked as a Journeyman Machinist in Brooklyn, New York before moving his family to Palm Bay, Florida in 1975.

Oscar loved fishing, spending time with his family, and was very active in the youth sports community for the City of Palm Bay as a softball and soccer coach.  He then went on to become a FIFA Certified Referee and officiated hundreds of youth, high school, college and professional soccer games.

Oscar was preceded in death by the love of his life, and wife of 43 years Cecilia Escobar.

Oscar is survived by Gloria Yanes (Daughter) and Ed Yanes of Palm Bay, Florida, Oscar Restrepo (Son) and Toni Restrepo of Jupiter, Florida and three Grandchildren; Nicole Yanes, Roman Restrepo, and Angelica Restrepo. 

Oscar is also survived by seven siblings and countless nieces and nephews.

The Family will be hosting a “Gathering of Remembrance” to celebrate his life on June 18, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the “Captain’s House” located at 1300 Bianca Drive, Palm Bay, FL 32905.
