Obituary of Ida Mary Ryan

Ida Mary Ryan (nee Connors) of Melbourne, Florida passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 at the age of 81. Born to parents William Connors and Doris (nee Williams) on January 4, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. Ida married Roger Ryan (predeceased on March 7, 2021) in 1959 and together they raised six children. She retired to Florida with Roger in 1995.

Along with raising her children, Ida lived a life of service. For many years, she volunteered with Girls Scouts of America, first as a leader with troops both in Queens, New York and in Melbourne, Florida, and as a Leader Trainer for the Citrus Council. Ida was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Grace in Palm Bay, Florida, where she served with the Counsel of Catholic Women, including as CCW President at Our Lady of Grace.

Her greatest love and pride were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children Tammy (Larry Mercurio), William (Deb), Kristine, Robert (Michele), and Kathleen (Craig) Johnson; and her grandchildren, Devan, James, William, Gwynna, Theodore, Dallas, Georgia, Lucille, Declan, Patrick, and Ronan, her nephew Thomas Michel (Nicole) and grandnephews Thomas and Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Noreen and her brother Kenneth and her sister Denise Michel.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Ida and Roger at 11am on June 4, 2021 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, FL 32907. Following the Mass, interment will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ida will be remembered by all who knew her for her strength of spirit, her love of family, her faith and service to others.
