Obituary of Lewis W. Linton

Lewis W. “Lou” Linton, 76, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away March 6, 2021 after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

He was born on February 18, 1945 in Covington, Virginia to John Ralph and Gladys Linton.

Lou leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Karen Linton and their four daughters: Shelley (Peter) Kaus, Christina (Christopher) Beeman, Julie (Eric) McGuire, and Kimberly (Matthew) Consevage. He was also a proud “Papa Lou” to four grandchildren: Allie, Dawson, Connor, and Grace. Lewis is also survived by his mother Gladys Linton, brother John (Susie) Linton, and best friend since first grade: John Mills. He is predeceased by his father John Ralph Linton.

Lou grew up in Covington, VA, where he played high school football. He went on to Virginia Tech to pursue a degree in mathematics. He took a break from his education to enlist in the United States Air Force, which brought him to McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando, FL. He later earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College and moved back to Virginia to begin a long career in software engineering. Lou also attended Johns Hopkins University for graduate studies.

Lou and Karen met in Virginia, moved to Florida as newlyweds, and decided to raise their growing family in Brevard County.

In 2007, Lou retired from Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL as a Computer Graphics Software Engineer.

Prior to retirement, Lou’s primary hobby revolved around watching and coaching his daughters in youth soccer. During retirement, he found many new hobbies, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing golf with his son-in-law Eric.

Always ready with a quick-witted reply or clever pun, “Papa Lou” was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Lewis will be laid to rest at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
