Obituary of Luz Maria Villafane de Vega

Luz Maria Villafañe de Vega, a long resident of Melbourne, Florida, rose to Heaven at the age of 92 on Tuesday the 27th of October 2020 in the loving care of Glenville Pines in Palm Bay, FL. 

Born on January 7th 1928, Luz spent her childhood in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. In 1950 she graduated from the University of Puerto Rico and received a Bachelor’s of Education. She later married in 1955 to Victor Vega, a soldier in the U.S. Army, and began traveling the world. Soon thereafter, she had two children who she cherished and adored.   

She dedicated twenty years as a Communications Specialist at the Veterans Administration Hospital where she earned numerous awards and promotions. During that time, she became a joyful and devoted grandmother of four grandchildren earning the nickname “Lela.”

She was known by her family as a masterful gardener, a gifted seamstress, and an avid puzzle perfectionist. She enjoyed hosting Sunday suppers and being surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her son Jose Vega and his wife Dee, her daughter Vicma Rivera and her husband Carlos, four grandchildren Alex, Maria, Marissa, and Vianca and one Great grandson, Victor Manuel.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Luz on Sunday the 8th of November 2020 at Ammen Family Funeral Care 950 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, FL.
