Obituary of Ruby Lea Capers

Ruby Lea Capers, born to Peter W and Katherina Berg on November 6, 1921 in a sod house with a wooden roof in Corn, Oklahoma. Ruby was on of nine children. Ruby graduated from Reedley High School and attended Reedley Junior College, Southern California Bible College and Houston Community College. Ruby gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. She met her future husband Rev. O.F. Capers while at Bible College and married him in 1943. She served in the ministry for more than 42 years as a pastor’s wife and church pianist. Ruby worked for 23 years as a US Postal Employee and retired as a distribution clerk in 1990. Ruby was preceeded in death by her husband, Oscar F. Capers and her son, Stephen Andrew Capers. Ruby was survived by her sons, James Aaron Capers and David Jonathan Capers; her daughters, Sharon Lea Capers and Mary Esther (Capers) Merth. Also surviving are daughters-in-law, Dr Ratna Roy and Robin Capers; son-in-law, David Merth, grandchilden, Carrie Hartsaw, Katherine (Eric) Sprayberry, Michael Merth, Shyamali (Christopher) Hauth, Prodipto Roy, Layla Grissett, Angel Grisset, Adam Grissett, Jamie (Torrey) Knorr, Jonathan (Michelle) Capers, Sean Capers; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
