Obituary of Robert “Bob” Johnson

Robert +óGé¼+ôBob+óGé¼-¥ V. Johnson died peacefully in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 87. Bob is survived by his wife Faye; his children Bill Pollard, Tony Johnson, Jim Johnson, Beth Johnson Brackett; brothers and sisters Christine, Elaine, Mary Ann, Kay, Blaine, Carolyn, Wilma, and Tommy; grandchildren Lazar, Amanda, Tyler, Avery, Gracie, Ashley, Jessica, Shana and great grandchild Aston. He was the fourth oldest of 13 brothers and sisters. Bob was born on April 28, 1929 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He joined the Navy when he was 17 with an 8th grade education as submariner. Bob volunteered for submarine duty and served 8 years. After the Navy he attended East Tennessee State University and Memphis University where he earned his Bachelor+óGé¼Gäós degree in Accounting. Bob opened the first IRS office in Brevard County in 1955 and started his own accounting practice in Eau Gallie in 1966. Bob was very active in community service. Some of Bob+óGé¼Gäós many affiliations and accomplishments included: Melbourne Citizen of the Year in 1969, Melbourne City Councilman for six years, City of Melbourne Beautification Committee, Harbor City Volunteer Ambulance Squad Board Member and Chairman, Melbourne Airport Authority Board Member, Lion+óGé¼Gäós Club Member, Snug Harbor Submarine Veterans Member, USS Diablo Member and Reunion Coordinator, and Florida Trail Association Member. Arrangements entrusted to Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1286 S. US 1, Rockledge, FL (321) 632-1350. Bob’s memorial service will be held Friday, June 3rd at 10:30 am at the Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Parkway, Merritt Island, FL. His burial, with US Navy honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North, Mims, FL.
